About sum.video

sum.video is an AI YouTube summarizer. It turns a public YouTube video into key insights with clickable timestamps, a searchable transcript, and a chat you can use to ask about the video.

Why it exists

Long videos hide a few minutes of useful information inside an hour of intros, sponsor reads, and tangents. YouTube's own summaries are often a single paragraph. sum.video was built to show what a video actually covers, so you can read the parts you need and jump straight to them in the player.

Who makes it

sum.video is built by Péter Nagy, its founder, at Questly Kft., a software company in Budapest, Hungary. Péter designs, builds, and supports the product, and writes the guides on the blog.

How it works

sum.video reads the public transcript of a video, then an AI model structures it into insights with timestamps. It never downloads the video and never touches your YouTube account. The How it works page explains each step and the data involved.

Where you can use it

On the website, as a Chrome extension next to the YouTube player, in the iOS and Android apps, and inside Claude and ChatGPT as a connector. Summaries are available in 75 languages on every plan.
